Many happenings....and the summer time past...

This summer, we have spent so much time in pools....I'm still not sporting a great tan, but at least I'm not a snowman. The kids have had a great summer with the excitement of starting school lingering in their minds. We spent some time at our friends' (also honorary grandparents to the kids, and my band task master) pool and the kids had a blast.

Ty and Jen had been on us for awhile to use the pool and we finally took them up on the offer.
Cody took the time to practice his cannonballs, while Nathan and I swam around and smiled for the camera.

We also took the opportunity to take the first family vacation we've had in many years to NJ.

The kids had a blast and even got a chance to pilot my uncle's pontoon boat. We had a fun and relaxing time up north...but then it was time to come home...and the real fun began.

Cody and Andrew have started public school this year. Cody started 4th grade on August 25th and has already had a spelling test, which are proud to announce he made a 105% on (he got the bonus spelling word correct too). Andrew starts kindergarten on September 2nd. Poor Nathanael, he wants to start school so badly...but for now, he gets to watch his brothers go. They were very excited to start - and if I could have bottled up Andrew's excitement and sold it - we'd be millionaires right now.

I'm currently still working three days a week at Duke, in the same department, but that may change soon. We're still uncertain if I have the new job - it's still at Duke, but instead of inpatient (hospital) I'd be doing outpatient (clinic) - still in pediatrics. Be praying...my boss at the hospital cut my hours (and many of the other casual employees), so timing of possibly getting the new position will be tight.

Dan is working at Colony Tire in Wake Forest - yet again. He worked there a few years ago and left thinking that the new job would be better - it wasn't, and now he's back in the swing of things - and a little closer to home to boot.

We also got a chance to see my mother's brother's oldest son (my first cousin on my mother's side), his wife,
and kids. We hadn't seen them in over 15 years and had never met his wife or kids. We all had a great time at my mother's house catching up...and upon my mother's request, we did the family picture thing...

The band...well, while all the members of my band, Pre-existing Condition also play for the church band, 21 Days, it is Pre-existing Condition who will be gigging out and recording the new CDs. 21 Days just released our third CD - "Where is the Rain?" - and I must say, it totally rocks - listen to some of it on www.myspace.com/21daysatfbc

In the meantime, Pre-existing Condition (seen in the pic), will be performing at several neat venues this year and next.

All in all...its been a busy year...swimming, fairs, working, school, playing...it never ends...but we keep on ticking...
